3. Responsible Development of Manitoba's Natural Resources and Collaborative Northern Port Development

At Manitoba Stronger Together we believe in harnessing our province's abundant natural resources responsibly. Through fostering a collaboration with our neighbouring provinces, Alberta and Saskatchewan we can maximize the potential of Manitoba’s Northern Port. Our policy aims to strike a balance between economic growth, environmental stewardship, and community well- being.

Due to the governments’ unprecedented levels of spending during the pandemic, coupled with geopolitical global instabilities, Manitoba finds itself at a critical juncture.

A forward looking approach to investment, and sound fiscal management during these uncertain times can position our province as a beacon of economic opportunity. The current incredible demand for Manitoba's abundant natural resources is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for potential for growth.

However despite the growing global interest, we must also address the roadblocks and incursions by Ottawa into provincial matters which seek to impede our trade.

At Manitoba Stronger Together we advocate for responsible resource development while engaging in constructive, firm, and equal dialogue with the federal government to find common ground that ensures both economic prosperity and environmental stewardship. If we have the will to do so, together, we can navigate these complexities and secure a brighter future for Manitoba. Policy Objectives:

  1. Responsible Resource Management: We are committed to responsible resource management practices that prioritize environmental protection and conservation. Our policy advocates for conducting comprehensive environmental assessments for any resource development projects to minimize ecological impact and ensure long-term sustainability.

  2. Community Engagement and Empowerment: We recognize the importance of consulting and involving local communities in resource development decisions that may impact their livelihoods and environment. Our policy prioritizes transparent and inclusive dialogue with indigenous communities, stakeholders, and residents, allowing them to actively participate in the decision-making process.

  3. Diversified Economic Growth: We support the responsible exploration and development of Manitoba's natural resources to diversify our economy and create job opportunities for our citizens. Our policy encourages investment into renewable energy projects and clean technologies in order to reduce dependency on non-renewable resources thereby fostering a greener and more responsible economy.

  4. Collaboration on Northern Port Development: We advocate for enhanced collaboration with Saskatchewan and Alberta to develop the potential of Manitoba’s Northern port. Our policy encourages strategic partnerships that promote efficient transportation and trade routes, opening doors to new markets, and stimulating regional economic growth.

  5. Environmental Protection: Our policy pledges to address the pressing challenges posed by new development. We will work closely with stakeholders to implement innovative solutions and technologies to stabilize emissions and protect our environment for future generations.

  6. Responsible Land Reclamation: We are dedicated to ensuring that any land used for resource development undergoes thorough reclamation processes to restore its natural ecosystem. Our policy emphasizes the restoration of mined lands and rehabilitated areas to contribute to a responsible environment.

  7. Advancing Indigenous Partnerships: We are committed to strengthening partnerships with indigenous communities, respecting their rights, traditional knowledge, and cultural heritage in resource development projects. Our policy aims to allow indigenous communities to benefit responsibility from these initiatives, while cooperating for the great good of all Manitobans.

In conclusion, Manitoba Stronger Together's policy on developing natural resources and cooperating on the Manitoba Northern port reflects our unwavering commitment to responsible governance, community empowerment, and collaborative decision-making. Through transparent dialogue and responsible practices, we strive to build a stronger Manitoba while fostering harmonious relationships with our neighbouring provinces and honouring the diverse perspectives and interests of all Manitobans.

The time for talk and rhetoric is over. The time is now. We have a once in a generation opportunity to make Manitoba a "HAVE" province, and provide the kind of future prosperity our children and our children's children deserve.

Together let’s stop the exodus of our young people moving away nd be the catalyst for the influx of our families moving back home.
